The Truth About Lies by Aly Martinez - 5 STARS!!
Truth: From over a thousand miles away, I watched on the screen of my phone as two men murdered my wife. And I was helpless to save her.
Consumed by hate and rage, I spent four years running from my memories.
Until a shattered woman gave me a reason to stop.
Cora lived in a nightmare, but through sheer force of will, she’d turned it into something beautiful. She had a smile that could pierce the darkest soul. And with one glance, she shredded mine.
Lie: I was only there for a fresh start.
Lie: I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
Lie: There was nothing I could do to save her, either.
But that’s the thing about lies—you never know who to believe.
REVIEW: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I seriously do not even have the right words for this book. It CONSUMED me! Once I started, I could not stop reading. It was addictive and I loved every minute of it!
Cora lives in an apartment full of prostitutes. She dreams of someday getting out of the life she is currently living, but nothing has ever been easy for her.
Drew and Penn Walker are the new handymen in Cora's building. Cora isn't trusting of most men and these two are no exception. She also realizes they aren't like the other men in her family though, especially Penn.
Penn Walker is at odds with his past and thinks no one can save him from it. It is eating him up inside every day. Cora has a similar tragic past that has put her in her current situation.
I loved this story for all of its twists and turns. I never knew who I could trust and it kept me guessing in the ways only the best books can. That ending though!! It's a good thing the follow-up book comes out in a couple of weeks because I am dying to find out the how and the why of that ending!
