TOP 9 READS OF 2017

TOP 9 READS OF 2017

2017 comes to a close tonight and I always get excited for the new year because it means new books! I love looking back on all the books I've read during the year (the good and the bad) and seeing what I've accomplished. I usually set a Goodreads yearly goal, but only because I enjoy the scheduling of it. I totally understand that a lot of readers don't like to be on a schedule. Every body is different and that is A-OK with me :)

I chose a top 9 books this year because it fit best in the picture and even if I would have had to pick 20 top reads, it would have been hard, so 9 it is! First up, in no particular order:

Before I Ever Met You by Karina Halle. I loved this book because it had a single mom as the heroine (which I can relate to) and an older man who was just the best, hottest, holy crap-on-a-cracker leading male. Will is one of my favorite book boyfriends EVER and I loved everything about this love story. It starts with a punch to the gut at the beginning and happy tears at the end. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤This Is War by Kennedy Fox. This book was recommended to me by another book blogger who has since become a good friend. (Go check out her blog at http://nightowlreads413.blogspot.com/). I will love her forever for recommending Kennedy Fox to me. Travis and Viola hate each other at the beginning of this book and I am all for couples who go from enemies to lovers! I also loved the fact that Viola was a Harry Potter nerd just like me!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤ Court Of Wings And Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. Feyre and Rhys are back and I will forever be addicted to this couple! I don't read a lot of YA fantasy, but this series is one of my favorites. It has adventure, romance, and even a little adult action which had me squealing like a teenage girl. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤ From Sand And Ash by Amy Harmon. I read this as a group read earlier this year and this book touched me like no other book this year. I still think of this book every time I see a WWII documentary on TV because it really brought the people of that time to life for me. Heart wrenching and tough to read at times, this book had me thinking about it long after I finished reading it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤ The Gamble by Kristen Ashley. This was my first Kristen Ashley book. Ever. I know, I'm embarrassed to admit that it took me that long to figure my life out and read one of her books, but I did it and this book left me a lifelong Kristen Ashley fan. Max is my favorite KA Hero to date. So Alpha male and just the best! I felt like I met a whole town of characters when I read this book and it was like I was actually there. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤ How To Date A Douchebag: The Studying Hours. Sara Ney was another new author to me and I listened to these books on Audible when they rolled out their new Romance Package. These books were funny, sarcastic, but with heart and I devoured them! I went on to read the whole series and am eagerly awaiting the 4th book! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤ Possession by A.M. Johnson. This author was awesome and gave me audible copies of Possession and Kingdom and these were both really, really good. Possession is my favorite though because it deals with subjects that one usually doesn't see in romance novels and it was just fresh and unique to me...as well as heartbreaking. This book was just amazing! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤ The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean. I had never read historical romance until this year. Cora Carmack had recommended Lisa Kleypas and Sarah MacLean as her go-to historical romance authors, so I checked them both out, even though I wasn't very excited to, but I wanted to expand my horizons. I am now a proud historical romance junkie, especially when it comes to Sarah MacLean. This book was EVERYTHING! Swoonworthy, but without making the female character seem like a weak little woman. Both of these authors do this well and for that I am grateful. It was an epic slow burn and I can't wait to read more from both of these ladies! (I also listened to this one on Audible and the British accent really helps put the reader IN the story.) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

➤ The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata. This book is a brick. It runs 672 pages of slow burn awesomeness and I loved every page! Again, enemies of sorts to lovers, this book follows a star football player and his personal assistant who is pretty fed up with his BS. I loved it from the first page and have since added all of her books to my TBR! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

That's it for this year. There were so many other books that could have been on this list, but I just picked 9 out of the 20 or so. Here are a few honorable mentions:

➤They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera
➤Kingdom by A.M. Johnson
➤Preppy Book One by T.M. Frazier
➤Without Merit by Colleen Hoover
➤Royally Matched by Emma Chase
➤The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman
